Allan and Kristin met when they were just teenagers. Their siblings all went to the same high school and remained friends after graduation, so they saw each other on many occasions.
Two years ago, they were both single. At the same time. Allan finally got enough courage to ask Kristin out. On a date. Kristin still remember that phone call like it was yesterday. The most amazing first date happened at Cork & Fork wine bar where they shared lots of tapas and laughs. It was the best first date either one of them had been on. It was easy- and fun. There was a promising start to this new relationship as a “couple”. Both Kristin and Allan left that date excited about what the future held.
Flash forward 15 months later. They were vacationing together in Maui. The first excursion that Allan had planned was driving up to the top of the Haleakala Crater (10,000 feet up) to watch the sunrise. They woke up at 2 am, shuffled to the coffee pot, got in the car- and away they went! A few hours later- they arrived. It was dark, rainy, and FREEZING! Allan wrapped Kristin in a blanket and found a spot for them to watch the sunrise. Through the rain and the thick cloud cover, it was the most amazing sunrise they had ever seen. They sat under under a rainbow and took pictures of the beauty in front of them. Tourists began to arrive. People came and went… an entire hour went by and Allan was insistent that they stay put. The sun was officially above the crater and the final few tourists had gone. Allan pulled Kristin aside and stood directly in front of her. He held her hands and told her how much loved her and how he cherished the time they had spent together. He got down on one knee and asked Kristin to marry him… and before he had the opportunity to present the ring- she had shouted “YES!”
I am thrilled to be shooting their wedding this Fall at Miramonte Resort and Spa this December. I flew to Palm Springs recently to photograph their engagement session. We started at Moorten’s Botanical Garden, headed to a mountain backdrop, stopped for chips and margaritas while waiting for sunset, and then drove to the windmills for the Grand Finale. So much fun. So much wind. So many laughs. Enjoy!
Love the windy location and the grand photo of them in the desert forest!
