As the end of Pre-K approaches, Grace was sent home with an art project. It was a long piece of cardboard with a black marker outline of a guitar. There was a note to parents stapled to it that said ” please cut out and decorate with your child. It will be used as a prop for our farewell concert.” That was over a week ago. Project sat on the counter and this morning while I was drinking my coffee she said “when are we going to work on my guitar?” Panic. I had kinda forgot about it. Kids do that to you.
We sat down together and I googled “cardboard guitar”. We found this one here! I charged the drill, found the x-acto knife, and even made a trip to Walmart for glue sticks and XL pink rubber bands. The PINK rubber bands were her only mandatory request. All other work went on hold today. Making this cardboard guitar was the number one priority for the day. I wish I had the nerve to post a photo of my kitchen from the aftermath of this project 🙂 I don’t….
Finally, the hot glue is dried and the guitar is secure enough for a little “strumming”. There was in impromptu concert in our living room that made me get up and run for my camera. This kid is awesome. Homework assignment completed. Now, its time to make dinner…
