Yesterday I clicked the “purchase” button.  This morning, buyers remorse is nowhere in sight.  I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas.  Only, I am excited for the idle sound of the diesel truck parked in front of our house followed by the doorbell ring.  The Fed Ex man can’t come soon enough…

Here it is.  The Canon 5D Mark II.   I was shooting a wedding recently and I was unable to get the shot I wanted with my current camera.  I know how to use my camera forwards and backwards and I pushed its capabily to the limit and was still not able to get the shot I wanted.  I realized, it was time to make the jump.

There are many differences, but I won’t bore you with all the specs.  You have the internet for that type of research.  The main difference is this is a full frame camera.  A full-frame camera has some advantages over a cropped camera- but I think its best described visually so I pulled this images from the web.

I love the shallower depth of field and the fact that I can now use my lenses as they are meant to.  I am quite confident that once I get  accustomed to full-frame I will never look back.  I am keeping my Canon 40D as my backup camera.  Its my first love and will always have that special place  in my heart.   I learned a lot from the 40 D, but now its on to bigger and better things.  Here is a final comparison image of the new on the left and the old on the right.

cue the girl scout song ” Make new friends, but keep the old.  One is silver and the other gold…”

Can’t wait till my next photo session!
